I look forward to working with any psychological issues, but especially with clients expressing a sincere, motivating desire to change their life. I work with individuals (children & adults) and couples experiencing both deeper, long-term difficulties as well as more situational, short-term problems. While I work to help patients alleviate acute symptoms, it is often possible & advantageous to resolve the underlying causes of anxiety & depression in particular. My doctoral work also focused on Organizational Development. Clients facing work-related issues usually find this added perspective and training helpful.
I am a licensed psychologist who has been providing psychotherapy since 1979. I was trained at the UCSF Psychiatric Out-Patient Dept. and in Europe (U. of Leuven, Belgium) and bring to the session a broad understanding of psychological issues & symptoms. My office is located in San Francisco in a quiet, mostly residential area.
In addition to diagnosing and treating presenting distressful symptoms and conditions, I believe that it is essential for the psychotherapist and patient each to understand the specific, individual experience of the patient in order for the therapy to be successful.
