I provide counseling services in either English or Spanish. In addition to the rigorous education and training therapists are required to complete, I had an additional three-year training under Joan Rousseau, LCSW, in systems theory family therapy using a strategic problem-solving model. Previously, I enjoyed five years working in the addiction field and six years working in the child welfare field. I have served as an advocate for the Spanish-speaking community since 1985, and my focus in graduate school was on bilingualism-biculturalism-Spanish/Latino. As the mother of three sons, I chose to do focused study on men's issues.
I am well-trained and competent to work with families, couples, and individuals. Helping people solve interpersonal conflict, whether it be parent/child, couples, or family therapy is the most rewarding aspect of my career. Helping parents be more effective with their unique child and his or her specific needs is also very fulfilling work.
I am a compassionate person. Being a senior, I have my own life-stage experience. I am a parent and a grandparent and understand the challenges of raising children. Like everyone, I have struggled with my own life issues and feel passionate about helping others navigate through the obstacles that can challenge all of us at times.
