Buddhist Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, PsyD, Psychologist in San Francisco
Buddhist Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy was developed in order to help individuals apply both traditional Buddhist concepts and Western psychology to the challenges of modern living. This type of therapy would likely be a good match for you if you're interested in integrating practices like meditation, mindfulness, self-compassion, and loving-kindness with contemporary psychotherapy to address current issues in your life. In the past I have successfully worked with individuals struggling with anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, anger, addiction, chronic pain, marital and other relational issues including LGBT relationships. My specialty is working with anxiety and stress related disorders.
Buddhists have been studying the causes and cure for human suffering for 2,500 years. In therapy we will use this approach to examine the root cause of your suffering and work together to alleviate it. Therapeutically, I have been described as having a gentle, warm, and supportive style.
I received my doctorate in clinical psychology from The Wright Institute and I completed my postdoctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in San Francisco. I have been practicing Buddhist meditation for over 15 years and am presently obtaining meditation teacher certification under Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. Evenings, weekends available.
