My most improved clients are the ones who have been told they're too smart for their own good, struggle with existential or spiritual angst, feel displaced, want to be pushed and challenged while utterly supported, need clarity on whether or not they have victimized or been victimized, have questions for which they have been told there are no answers, suffer from unprocessed or complicated grief, need help applying the knowledge they already posses, who feel like they are "too much," are afraid of feelings, and require an absolutely neutral and judgement free space to be vulnerable.
Offering unconditional positive regard and occasionally brutal insights for people who have struggled to connect with previous therapists, I validate who you really are while helping you become who you want to be. I am culturally informed and hold militantly safe space for marginalized populations, as well as victims of systemic abuse, including veterans.
Every maladaptive trait we have began as strategy to survive threatening situations. What was a skill in a dysfunctional situation, is a liability in a healthy one. Change is scary, but it is inevitable. Let’s put you in charge of which direction your life takes; let’s separate who you are from what is holding you back. They are never the same.

By properly identifying the real issues, we can trace their origins and meet the underlying unmet needs causing them. From there, we can create realistic goals, and collaborate on a treatment plan that helps achieve them. This generally involves reality checking for problematic narratives created in rooted in pain, and working toward the creating of new, more realistic narratives.

I operate primarily from a Narrative perspective, and am devoted to the Humanistic idea of Unconditional Positive Regard towards my clients. I have come to appreciate the logic and Neutrality of CBT, but rarely use it alone as I find it can be problematic when not rooted in person-centeredness. All of my work is trauma-informed, even for those who do not identify as trauma survivors.
