Many, especially in the LGBTQ+ community, learn to mask their true selves out of necessity, fearing that revealing their identity will disrupt their lives. Secrets and shame can also fuel addictive behavior, keep folks reliving the past in the present, or existing in a prison of their own fear. Before long one can feel stuck in a repeating loop of private pain others don't even notice. Where to start when you can't speak about it to anyone? Even if someone has strong supports, there is often doubt about whether people would be fully accepted if others knew the truth. If this resonates with you in the slightest, we should talk.
Imagine being able to breathe freely without masks or a double life—exploring your concerns at your own pace and knowing your options. As an openly gay man myself, I offer both expertise and personal insight into many of the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community at large. Whatever the source of your fear or shame, let us confront it together.
Looking at therapist profiles is a sign on some level you believe meaningful change may be possible for you. If you'd like to start the process, I'd be honored to be a part of your journey. Please request an appointment on my website using the link in my profile and we can get started. I look forward to meeting you. Thanks.
