In four plus decades of counseling a wide variety of people I have learned a great deal about the human condition and how the psychological, physical, familial, and social contexts in which we live can cause our lives to feel like an overwhelming fight for survival. As human beings we should be able to expect more. In this counseling practice you will have my full respect and caring as a base on which to build a therapeutic relationship in which you can remember and discover a more authentic, alive version of yourself.
While symptoms such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems and addictions might be reasons to enter counseling, we can work together to address the pain, trauma and maladaptive coping strategies that cause our suffering . I also have extensive experience in assisting clients to navigate the oppressive/dysfunctional society that we live in.
I believe that the most growth in therapy occurs between counseling sessions and from the client's desire for change. I offer my clients a variety of practices to help them navigate their lives, that can enhance their ability to manage stress, clarify their thinking and develop a deeper understanding of themselves. I don't fix people. I empower them.
