I have twenty-nine years of experience working with individuals, couples and families. The initial consultation is an opportunity for clients to relax and feel safe to experience a full range of emotions as they explore and discuss the issues that brought them into therapy. I greet each client with courtesy and respect, establishing a therapeutic relationship. I see clients in my Shelter Island office. I also offer video sessions via a confidential video platform.
Clients gain insight into their internal processes, and begin to explore how these unconscious processes may be influencing their current moods, thought, and feelings in their current situations. Therapy empowers clients to increase their objectivity regarding their lives, and to more fully realize their abilities and strengths as they move forward.
Couples gain insight and awareness of how each other's internal processes are operating within their relationship and how these unconscious processes impact on their relationship. Couples work through the specific issues that brought them into therapy while they identify and explore what adjustments would improve communication and intimacy.
