Many of my clients describe losing a loved one was like being hit by a Mac truck. There is something unbelievable about how a loved one is no longer with us ;it is akin to a sudden shock. The need to tell one's story and organize the narrative is essential to the process of healing. Repeating the story in front of witnesses either in a group setting or individually helps integrate this new reality into one's frame of reference. The purpose of the sessions individual or group in to help to make you feel less alone in your personal tragedy. Repeatedly group members report a sense of healing being connected to others.
Having experienced the loss of a loved one can feel isolating. Connecting to an experienced grief counselor who can understand the process of grief and guide you through this makes the whole experience feel less overwhelming. The facilitator will also help to identify normal grief responses and suggest ways to encourage healing, such as creating rituals.
Bereavement Groups are widely considered to be the best therapeutic forum for coping with a loss. Each member will have the opportunity share his or her feelings while learning about the grieving process through the experiences of others. I organize bereavement groups for general need rather than structuring them around specific types of loss.

Groups
Virtual Bereavement Group Series September 18th
8-week Bereavement groups are organized around the death of a loved one, not a particular type of loss. Members with different losses form emotional connections that I, as a group leader, could never have predicted. Here is what you can expect by participating in the group: • Meeting virtually facilitated by a compassionate grief professional. • Find the tools you need to help you grow and heal. • Share your experiences, thoughts, and feelings. • Talk with others in the same situation. • Learn more about what to expect from your grief. • Find healing and comfort through the Alexander Technique and relaxation exercises.
