Hello, I’m Dr. Broderick Sawyer! I treat adults and adolescents for anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, identity issues, and stress related to oppression. Overall, my approach is to help you quickly and effectively: 1) Overcome everyday stress, 2) Develop emotional intelligence, 3) Understand how your past is holding you back, 4) Develop confidence and a positive self-image to move forward in life, and 5) Create and maintain healthy relationships. Having a diverse training background, my approach blends Mindfulness, CBT, Psychodynamic, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment, and Compassion-based approaches.
To make sure I’m effective as your therapist, I lean on 10 years of experience studying and applying several scientifically-supported treatment approaches. Essentially, I have a large "tool belt" to give you what you need, instead of a narrow, cookie-cutter approach to treatment. Human beings are unique, and my approach honors this.
Self-understanding gives you the keys to your future, ensuring that progress made in therapy stays long after finishing. I take a collaborative approach to helping you understand yourself, so you can understand and focus on what is important to you. I look forward to working with you!
