I believe a strong therapeutic alliance is the key to developing a plan for change and that therapy is a collaborative process. I relate to clients with warmth and honesty (as well as some occasional humor) that promotes space for non-judgmental and empathic exploration of experiences. My goal is to provide a friendly, safe environment where clients can authentically express themselves and gain insight that informs meaningful change. As a generalist psychologist, I have experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds with a variety of presenting concerns.
My therapeutic style includes connecting current and past experiences, focusing on emotional experiences, and coping skills to improve current functioning. I have an integrated approach to therapy that combines directive suggestions/strategies (such as techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy) and identifying patterns of behaviors/relationships.
I realize reaching out to a therapist can be a vulnerable experience, especially when you may not be feeling your best. I encourage you to contact me however feels most comfortable for you, either by phone or email, and welcome any questions you may have in assessing our fit. I look forward to hearing from you!
