Our Team
Worry is a shapeshifter! One day it looks like the fear of being judged by others or causing harm, getting sick or physically hurt; the next it is the fear of being less than perfect, or uncertain about the future. Worry can get tangled up with everyday stress, important events, with intrusive thoughts that feel upsetting or scary to have. Worry makes you feel trapped, in our routines, in indecision, in our own minds. Worry can get stuck on specific phobias, creating a cycle of obsessions and compulsions. Learning how to manage worry, wherever it pops up, can give us the tools to break free from fear and live the lives we want.

Are you questioning your decisions, thinking in circles, and letting fear of judgement get in the way? Do stressful or overwhelming moments make you feel unloved or like a burden? No matter how stressful or even traumatic things might be, you deserve to feel worthy and to know you are good enough. You deserve to feel loved. You deserve to enjoy life and everything that comes with it, without doubts. It’s time to put negative thoughts to rest, not let them control you any more. You are done people pleasing. Anxiety can feel like a constant hum in the background of your life—or like a sudden wave that knocks you off your feet. Thoughts racing at night, keeping you from getting enough sleep. Overthinking conversations to the point you start avoiding situations, zapping your confidence to take chances or make changes. Not to mention a general fear that things aren’t quite right and will soon fall apart. However it shows up, anxiety can be exhausting.

Our bodies hold our pain. When we are in physical pain, pushing aside our emotions day-to-day can allow us to keep going but they build up inside of us, becoming unavoidable as time goes on. The fear, guilt, and hurt come along with the pain of another flare-up. Am I burdening people with my problems? Are they tired of me ghosting them? Will I be able to live the life I have always pictured for myself? Missing out on relationships, feeling distant from people, and held back from life by the added stress of managing pain. Though you are doing your best, things keep getting harder and harder.

You catch yourself repeating “it’ll get better, it’ll pass,” but it hasn’t. You’re hoping the tension in your chest, your sweaty palms, and your clenched jaw will finally stop but nothing has changed. You think “I can just handle it on my own”, hoping it’ll get better. Googling “stress”, “overwhelmed”, and “anxiety”, gives the same old answers, but leaves you wondering what would actually work? You realize it’s more challenging than you thought. You don’t have to figure it out on your own. You don’t have to repeat the pattern, feeling stuck forever.

Are you feeling misunderstood by friends, family, or the world? Are you afraid you could face harm for expressing yourself? Do you ruminate on the future, scared that your rights to be and love as you are will be taken? The pressures of a heteronormative world can be overwhelming, and the never-ending process of coming out can feel exhausting. As a queer-identifying therapist, I want to help carry the weight of these feelings with grace. Whether you're still exploring who you are, navigating the stresses of systemic challenges, or simply feeling overwhelmed from being forced to fit in a box, we can work through it together.
