As a queer and trans identified therapist, I personally understand how painful it can be to go to someone for support and be met with microaggressions, rejection, or outright hostility because of your marginalized identity. Therapy can be a transformative tool of self-discovery and a place to collaboratively develop a roadmap to a life filled with deep meaning and joy. But if your therapist does not understand or accept crucial parts of who you are, it can be deeply damaging and disheartening. If you have had experiences like these, I may be a good fit to provide you with the culturally competent therapy you deserve.
I work from a person-centered, feminist perspective, which means that I believe that therapy works best when it is an equal collaboration between me and you, rather than me calling the shots. That means that there's no one way therapy could or should look: you tell me what you would like our work together to look like.
That said, the one thing about my approach to therapy that never changes is my fundamental drive to hear and understand you, and to provide a safe place for you to do the hard work of connecting with yourself in a new way.
