Hello, my name is Dr. Brian Kelly (Ph.D.). I am a Licensed Psychologist in New York and Rhode Island. The most prominent component that comes to mind is rapport and therapeutic bond. If one cannot identify with their clinician, it can be quite difficult to open up and trust. Being vulnerable with your suffering and shortcomings is a difficult task but one worth undertaking. My focus is on assisting each individual with feeling accepted and supported while working to create change.
Psychotherapy can be a gentle art allowing you to be heard and understood while being assisted in clarifying resolutions. I specialize in problem solving and creating a plan of action. Therapy is meant to build your capacity for self-reliance and foster courage, capability, perseverance and indominable spirit. This is a journey not a destination. Explore it.
During session the story you tell will be heard and collaborative problem solving will occur. Change can take time; however, it should not feel as though you are lacking in assistance. Throughout the journey we will work together to create a mutually agreed upon plan for resolution and forward momentum. A clear path can be liberating.
