I’m Brian Rink, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Washington, DC, and Virginia. I specialize in helping men—gay or straight—who struggle with emotions, relationships, and connection. Many of my patients are high-achieving and capable, yet feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure how to express their feelings. I help men develop emotional awareness, improve communication, and build more meaningful relationships. I also work with all genders on issues of Sex Therapy, Chronic Illness, Chronic Pain, Depression and mood disorders. Here I focus on self compassion, self-acceptance, and self-exploration.
I provide a safe, grounded space to explore feelings and patterns that may be hard to talk about elsewhere. My approach draws from attachment-based, relational, and psychodynamic therapy, with elements of mindfulness and somatic awareness. Together, we work to understand how past experiences shape current challenges and to create new ways of relating.
In our first few sessions, I focus on understanding what brings you to therapy and what matters most to you. We’ll identify themes in how you relate, think, and feel, and begin to make sense of what’s holding you back. The pace is collaborative and respectful, allowing space for curiosity and reflection.
