I am a gay psychotherapist, and enjoy and have had success working with both LGBTq and heterosexual adult clients. A warm and supportive environment allows for the gradual development of a professional relationship between client and therapist that can provide an important basis for their work together. Individuals often come into my practice dealing with feelings of depression and anxiety, as well as the impact of trauma, that affect both their ability to have a positive self-image and sense of identity, and to move ahead in their life. I support a client around reducing these blocks in their life.
Depression, anxiety and the impact of trauma can all mask aspects of a person's identity and a sense of being a whole person. Supporting clients in exploring the sources of these feelings in order to reduce them can increase clarity of identity and self-esteem.
When individuals feel fragmented, these feelings can weaken our ability to withstand negative external factors. This can result in emotional reactions negatively affecting our life patterns, including relationships. I help clients to feel stronger and more whole at his or her core as part of a more holistic approach.
