About
Entering therapy is courageous. It can be a transformational space, a bridge from suffering to the discovery of choices that enable people to actively engage life. Depression, anxiety, fear and difficult feelings are not indicative of sickness, but rather signals that call for self-care, curiosity and empathy. I believe people's strengths are integral in the therapeutic process; I seek to help people access their humor, resilience, courage, intelligence, sensitivity and honesty throughout the healing process.
I offer warmth, compassion and respect to my clients. I have experience working with people overcoming depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties and life transitions such as becoming a parent and entering into marriage. I have a particular interest in the enhanced opportunity for growth that comes from developmental transitions.
I teach courses to clinical fellows on child and adolescent community-based therapy with urban youth. I have worked with adults and adolescents, in individual and couples therapy, in a variety of treatment settings. I treat persons in brief and open-ended talk psychotherapy.
