I utilize components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help my clients recognize problematic thinking and behaviors, and develop skills to address these maladaptive patterns. I like to help my clients develop problem solving skills, replacement behaviors, and positive coping skills. I provide my clients with psychoeducation regarding their diagnosis and projected treatment plan. I aid my clients in learning to practice mindfulness, emotional regulation, and improving interpersonal skills. I also help connect clients with community resources as necessary.
My clients would describe me as kind, understanding, and open minded. I take a conversational approach during sessions with my clients. I would never want my clients to feel as though they are in a classroom and I am lecturing them. Instead, I want my clients to feel like they can come into session with me and speak freely about anything on their mind.
Clients return to me for follow-up visits because I strive to have open, non-judgmental communication. I encourage my clients to let me know if there is anything they would like to change in our sessions. I know that every person is different, and has varying expectations for our sessions together.
