I am Brandy Smith, a Licensed Psychologist in Alabama with over 13 years of post-doctoral experience. I was trained as a generalist and earned my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Memphis. I work with adults and approach clinical work collaboratively, meeting clients where they are and working together to reach their goals. I am well-trained to address diversity in its broadest sense, with particular focus on concerns related to gender, sexual orientation, and race.
I view counseling as a collaboration between you, the expert on your life, and me, the expert on how to enhance your mental well-being. Together, we will identify your goals and, when necessary, break them down into smaller, manageable sub-goals. This way, you will have clear, achievable steps and tasks to work on between sessions, ultimately helping you.
I conceptualize clients from a strength-based perspective and incorporate empowerment where relevant. While the work we do in sessions is important, it’s the work you do between sessions that will lead to the greatest gains. I look forward to the opportunity to help enhance your coping skills and improve your overall quality of life.
