I am certified in Brainspotting, a trauma-healing therapy, and I believe in faith-based counseling.
Recovery. Healing. Rest. Balance. Empowerment. Connection. Purpose. Hope. Just pause for a moment and ask yourself which of those words resonates with you? What are you wanting out of life right now? I think you desire something different but may not know how to achieve this on your own. Whether its for mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual issues, therapy can help. By working together, we will create a plan so you can feel empowered to navigate the complexities of your life experiences and achieve the peace of mind and the balance you are looking for.

Techniques that I utilize include Brainspotting, mindfulness, meditation, somatic exercises, as well as creative outlets such as literature, art, writing, podcasts, music and more.
Michael Scott from The Office once said "Society teaches us that having feelings and crying is bad and wrong. Well, that's baloney, because grief isn't wrong. There's such a thing as good grief. Just ask Charlie Brown." As a therapist, I would agree with Michael and add that all feelings are right and good and meaningful but sometimes we can get stuck in negative thought patterns, relationship conflicts, painful feelings or avoidance strategies. We sometimes need help to create and develop new tools for handling those difficult thoughts or situations.

It takes courage to seek help when you are suffering. Taking steps to improve the quality of your life is one of the most valuable gifts you can give yourself. I believe it is the job of a therapist to help people on their journey and that the therapeutic relationship is an essential part of this process. The therapist must create an environment of trust where it feels safe to explore thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental, supportive manner. In this kind of atmosphere, we can begin the work to identify strengths and diminish self-defeating thinking and behavior so that you can move forward with your life.

You’re at your limit. No, you’re PAST your limit. You’re running on empty. You feel like you’re totally just breaking. You don't really have time for therapy, but things just aren't getting better. Maybe no one seems to understand how you feel. Things are really REALLY freaking hard right now. But they don’t have to stay that way any longer. Is therapy hard? YUP, for sure. But not as hard as continuing to live with the way things are now. You’re been suffering for too long. You deserve to heal and be well. You deserve to leave this behind you and enjoy your life. You deserve to feel like YOU.

Hello hello! I work either in-person w/nature in local parks or virtually via zoom! If we walk or sit together, we'll work following your lead with gentle nudges into the abyss (metaphorically, unless you enjoy muddy!), seeing through blinders, and remembering accomplishments. As for me? I'm a human reclaiming my humanity. I'm recovering from the dominating social order of straight, cis-white men steeped in racism, sexism, patriarchy, homophobia, colonialism, ableism and all the oppressions dreaming of a radically anti-capitalist, queer and environmental society. (deeply & vaguely spiritual, not religious). Break all the rules!

Brainspotting Therapists

How does brainspotting work?

Brainspotting works by using eye positioning to identify and process traumatic memories so that a client is better able to move forward and live with less fear. The theory behind brainspotting is that by identifying where a person looks when thinking of traumatic memories, a therapist will be able to guide them to focus on that spot and work with the client to get them out of the “fight, flight, freeze” response associated with the traumatic memory.

Is brainspotting an evidence-based therapy?

Brainspotting is a theory-based alternative therapy. It is one of the newest forms of treatment, so very little research has been completed that examines the mechanism by which it works. The theory behind brainspotting is that eye position can be linked to areas of the brain that store and process memory.

How effective is brainspotting?

Because it is such a new treatment, the effectiveness of brainspotting cannot be quantified. Some people have found it to be effective on its own, or in conjunction with other types of therapy. It is considered an alternative therapy, and it is popular with people for whom more traditional therapies have proven ineffective.

How long does brainspotting take to work?

A typical brainspotting session will last between 60 to 90 minutes. There is no required number of sessions needed to complete brainspotting therapy, but in many cases it is delivered over the course of about six sessions. Clients are encouraged to rate their level of distress prior to a session and again following a session, and to track progress.
