As Specialties, I offer Brainspotting and sex/sexuality counseling, KAT integration.
Asking for help is hard, and it’s when we feel heard, seen, and understood, that healing and growth are most accessible. I am here to hold space for you, or you and your partner(s), to explore and challenge yourself in pursuit of greater truth and authenticity. By addressing troubling thoughts and feelings, self-sabotaging behaviors, and traumas, life can be made more manageable, productive, and fulfilling. Feelings such as grief, shame, anxiety, sadness, and anger often signal that something needs to change. Listening to and working through these feelings can propel you forward. Allow me to help.

I typically use a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness-Based therapies, and Somatic approaches in a way that addresses the entire being—mind, body, and spirit.
I am passionate about helping people reach their full potential. I strongly believe in the human ability to heal, grow, and thrive, especially when provided with the right opportunities and resources. Clients typically come to me when they are feeling stuck, out of balance, and/or disconnected from their authentic self. Together, I work with clients to identify underlying sources of suffering, uncover hidden strengths, enhance internal resources, and release emotional burdens that have been impacting quality of life and preventing personal growth.

I utilize a combination of Brainspotting, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, DBT, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness Practices to help reduce the symptoms of trauma, anxiety, and depression that complicate and contribute to Substance Use Disorders.
Many people with trauma or PTSD also suffer from substance use issues . Feelings of anxiety, fear, anger, grief, depression, loneliness, feeling judged, and misunderstood are very normal. You may not trust the world around you and may not know how to cope with symptoms of trauma alone and will instead seek to numb your emotional turmoil. Both are lonely and isolating issues. Substance use is an outward manifestation of your pain and with supportive trauma and substance use counseling combined, your addiction can be treated as well as the underline symptoms that cause the need to numb your emotions and avoid your reality.

When traditional talk therapy makes little progress, I am trained to use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and brainspotting.
Do you feel lost or overwhelmed? Have you noticed your past getting in the way of your future? Do you believe you didn’t get what you needed growing up or that you missed out on a “normal” childhood? Therapy can offer guidance and help support your journey to the life you want. Healing takes time and it can feel vulnerable going through this process. We will create a plan to work towards your goals and support you feeling safe in this process. You are the expert and leader of your life. Together, we can work towards life skills, deal with the past, and improve your mental health.

Brainspotting for issues such as Trauma, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Stress, OCD and more.
My therapeutic philosophy is that it's not what is wrong with you but what happened to you. I believe that symptoms like anxiety and depression are not signs of weakness but messages to our mind and body telling us that something is not right and needs to be addressed. Maladaptive ways of coping may have once served us by dulling stress or pain but are not working any more, and so we have to learn new, healthier, more adaptive coping skills. I believe both the body and mind work together and are ultimately designed to survive, heal and thrive. Sometimes we just need understanding, validation and support to navigate the process.

Life is constantly changing, but not everyone adjusts to it in the same way. This unpredictability can lead to feelings of overwhelm, unpreparedness, powerlessness and insecurity. Sometimes, it's challenging to manage our own response to change or let alone the reactions of those close to us. What worked for others may not work for us, but that doesn't mean we should give up on our potential.

Brainspotting Therapists

How does brainspotting work?

Brainspotting works by using eye positioning to identify and process traumatic memories so that a client is better able to move forward and live with less fear. The theory behind brainspotting is that by identifying where a person looks when thinking of traumatic memories, a therapist will be able to guide them to focus on that spot and work with the client to get them out of the “fight, flight, freeze” response associated with the traumatic memory.

Is brainspotting an evidence-based therapy?

Brainspotting is a theory-based alternative therapy. It is one of the newest forms of treatment, so very little research has been completed that examines the mechanism by which it works. The theory behind brainspotting is that eye position can be linked to areas of the brain that store and process memory.

How effective is brainspotting?

Because it is such a new treatment, the effectiveness of brainspotting cannot be quantified. Some people have found it to be effective on its own, or in conjunction with other types of therapy. It is considered an alternative therapy, and it is popular with people for whom more traditional therapies have proven ineffective.

How long does brainspotting take to work?

A typical brainspotting session will last between 60 to 90 minutes. There is no required number of sessions needed to complete brainspotting therapy, but in many cases it is delivered over the course of about six sessions. Clients are encouraged to rate their level of distress prior to a session and again following a session, and to track progress.
