I am an EMDR- and Brainspotting-trained, licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), national certified counselor (NCC), trained school counselor, and I hold professional membership with the American Counseling Association (ACA).
I am motivated by a genuine curiosity to understand each person's unique perspective, and I believed that successful therapy begins with providing individuals a space to be authentic and vulnerable. I view counseling as a conversation about your story, a process to empower you to make meaning of your experiences, challenges and ambitions. I believe that all clients have the capacity for self-discovery and problem solving. Therefore, I work collaboratively with adolescents and adults to improve emotional control, develop self-acceptance, and cultivate fulfilling relationships.

Techniques I use include Brainspotting, DBT, CBT, and the Enneagram.
Life can be difficult. A marriage that's just okay. A chronic illness that has stolen the life you thought you would live. A shining star in your sport now succumbing to anxiety and doubt. You don't know who you are anymore and what purpose you have. You want to be able to see the good in life and not dwell on the negative. You want a significant marriage or relationship. You know you have what it takes to be the best in your sport “if only”. You're ready to LIVE and learn how to find purpose in your suffering. You want hope. You want to understand YOU better and in return have more fulfilling relationships.

Life can often feel like a roller coaster. The pressure to perform in various areas of life can feel heavy and difficult. We all have personal and relational things impacting our lives no matter what stage of life we are in. I understand that it's difficult to ask for help and yet I know from personal experience the first step toward healing can be reaching out to someone who is able and willing to listen and walk the journey with you for a time.

Brainspotting Therapists

How does brainspotting work?

Brainspotting works by using eye positioning to identify and process traumatic memories so that a client is better able to move forward and live with less fear. The theory behind brainspotting is that by identifying where a person looks when thinking of traumatic memories, a therapist will be able to guide them to focus on that spot and work with the client to get them out of the “fight, flight, freeze” response associated with the traumatic memory.

Is brainspotting an evidence-based therapy?

Brainspotting is a theory-based alternative therapy. It is one of the newest forms of treatment, so very little research has been completed that examines the mechanism by which it works. The theory behind brainspotting is that eye position can be linked to areas of the brain that store and process memory.

How effective is brainspotting?

Because it is such a new treatment, the effectiveness of brainspotting cannot be quantified. Some people have found it to be effective on its own, or in conjunction with other types of therapy. It is considered an alternative therapy, and it is popular with people for whom more traditional therapies have proven ineffective.

How long does brainspotting take to work?

A typical brainspotting session will last between 60 to 90 minutes. There is no required number of sessions needed to complete brainspotting therapy, but in many cases it is delivered over the course of about six sessions. Clients are encouraged to rate their level of distress prior to a session and again following a session, and to track progress.
