I view clients as whole people in the context of their lives. You are more than a diagnosis. My typical clients are smart, hard on themselves, overwhelmed, experiencing or considering change, dealing with interpersonal conflict, or just going through it. I also specialize in relationship counseling for committed partners who want to improve communication, feel more loved, work as a team instead of against each other, or finally get unstuck from an old issue or dynamic. I provide queer/hetero/poly/monog/ENM/ace/kink-friendly counseling and strive to create a welcoming environment for all.
I'm trained in evidence-based methods including ACT, CBT, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Together we can build skills (e.g. mindfulness, communication, self-compassion) to make life easier while working to gain insight and break out of old patterns. I use humor (appropriately, mostly) and give direct feedback with compassion.
I'm experienced in working with educators, researchers, and administrators, and understand the unique stressors that come with these careers. I accept the State Health Plan for individual therapy ($10-15 copay, no deductible for therapy).
