My career as a marriage and family therapist has been dedicated to work with families; namely couples and children. A systemic lens of the world takes into account absolutely everything. I see you as more than just a person, you are part of a larger fabric; the family you were born into and as well as the one you make as an adult. This can include, but is not limited to, partnerships and marriage, friendships, work and career, cultural identity, personal traditions and individual hobbies. Whatever makes you who you are is a part of treatment.
Trained as a marriage and family therapist my pre-licensure experience occurred in a community mental health setting where I worked with children at risk of out of home placement and their families. This role allowed me to hone my focus on couples and family work.
With a background in advocacy, my focus in treatment is always to promote and empower families to utilize their core strengths toward individualized change. My personal philosophy for clients is they already possess skills to grow; I advise and remind them how to start this important process.
