My clients find it empowering to not just talk about a problem but also to create ways of coping through learning new skills and allowing new perspectives. I help clients who want to be truly authentic. Sexuality and the pursuit of our sexual health is important as we strive to integrate our expression into our relationships. I help individuals incorporate their true selves into their relationships. My specialties are sexual problems, issues of sexual identity/orientation, consensual non-monogamy, out of control sexual behavior more commonly known as sex or porn addiction.

I believe that most people at some time can benefit from talking with a professional about emotional problems that they are encountering, although many persons I see worry that there is something "wrong" with them and feel they should be able to improve their situations thembselves. Difficulties in relationships, problems concerning work or recovering from bad experiences can be painful parts of life and talking about them can hasten change and improvement. As we develop a relationship with one another and reflect about the problems together, over time, I have found that people discover new ways of meeting the challenges that brought them to me.

Perhaps you - or you and your partner - are standing on a threshold, a doorway between the life you have known and the life ahead of you. You may feel disconnected from yourself, from what used to give your life meaning, from that spark that used to enliven your relationship. You are walking in the dark, overwhelmed by the unknown, maybe feeling depressed or anxious, or both. I am here to sit with you in that scary, and sometimes exciting space, to help you be attentive to your deepest needs, fears, and longings, to communicate clearly and gently, and to uncover the deep well of wisdom and love that lies within and between you.

Relationships are my passion! Whether it be your relationship with yourself, your partner, or life itself, I aim to help people more deeply connect with their authentic selves. When we're living out of alignment, we can have a whole host of symptoms, and it's difficult to get clear about what to do next when we can't see things accurately. Trauma is real. Fear is inevitable. Being disconnected from your heart can also be a thing. Any of these factors can lead to hinderances on your path to leading a soulful life. If you're at a crossroads and unsure which way to go, let me help you illuminate your path forward!

"Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes." C.G. Jung-- You might suffer from anxiety, depression, grief, and/or relationship issues, but the key is that you are willing to explore why. My philosophy is holistic in that I feel like it is important to examine each part of life because I truly believe everything is connected when it concerns mental, emotional, and physical suffering and pain. I have recently completed a yoga teacher certification so I am able to incorporate somatic principles and movement into my work with clients.

Welcome. I offer a therapy uniquely designed for healing perfectionism. Have you ever thought that you might have too much of a good thing? Research informs us that excessive striving can impair our ability to relax, adapt to life's transitions, and genuinely connect with others. The therapy we'll use is called RO-DBT, and it promotes psychological flexibility. While we can't simply try harder to become flexible, the good news is that it's a learnable skill. Over time, we can help you cultivate balance and embrace spontaneity and authenticity when the situation calls for it.

Life is a journey full of ups and downs, twists and turns, dry valleys, and scenic mountaintops. At times, it can be difficult to navigate. We may resist going in a direction that feels unknown because it is uncomfortable to do things we've never done before; however, it is in the places of discomfort that we can create the most growth and discover our most authentic selves. Maybe you feel stuck, hurt, or abandoned. Maybe you feel stressed, alone, or tired. Maybe you feel disconnected from yourself or the people in your life. No matter where you find yourself on your journey, there is hope.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
