Sometimes, it is a knee-jerk reaction to blame or shame yourself for the negative ways that you show up in your life. Instead of dwelling on, “what the hell is wrong with me?” let me help you explore questions like, “what positive intent does it have for me?” or, “how does it try to protect me?” and, “what is it trying to protect me from?” Sometimes that devil on our shoulder really does have good intentions despite the undesirable impact. It can affect our personal, romantic, and even our work relationships.

I have worked with survivors of trauma for ten years. As a child survivor of narcissistic and abusive parents myself, I have fallen in love with the work of assisting survivors on their own path to safety, healing, and even joy! I specialize in survivors of narcissistic abuse, especially within adult children of narcissistic parents and intimate partners of narcissists. Having a Narcissist parent/partner is something you can only truly understand if you have experienced it personally, and it is my mission in life to use my own experiences and knowledge to help YOU understand and heal from the impacts of this kind of abuse.

Hi! My name is Amber Baumgarden. I'm a private practice EMDR Therapist and LMSW who is here to provide a person-centered approach to counseling and therapy for individuals, couples, and families. Joanna has spent ten years in the medical field, which offers a unique and specialized view to those who may be working in the medical field or currently facing medical issues. Joanna mainly works with individuals ages 12 and up and has experience in couple and family counseling. She works with various concerns, including but not limited to addictions, depression, and anxiety. Due to personal and professional experience, Joanna is incredibly passionate about working with anxiety, premarital couples, teens, identity concerns (LGBTQIA+, cultural, spiritual, etc.), and chronic illness.
