I provide Play and Art Therapy for children 12 and under. Children express their worries, fears, and confusion in a variety of behaviors from aggression to withdrawal. With their still rapidly developing brains and language centers, children don't yet have the capacity to accurately express themselves through words. That doesn't mean that they aren't communicating! They are constantly "talking" to us through their behaviors and actions. The challenge for the caring adults in their lives is to unravel what they are trying to say through their behavior. Sometimes parents need support.
I offer a warm, compassionate, and safe therapeutic environment for children and their families. As a Child and Family Therapist specializing in play and art therapy, I work with children 12 and under, experiencing social, behavioral and emotional challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, and attachment disruptions caused by foster care or adoption.
In the safety of the playroom and in the presence of a trusting and accepting therapist, and with the support of parents, children are able to process their experiences and develop more effective strategies to manage their world. Therapy can help ease fears and anxieties, heal wounds, and increase self-esteem.
