I love the diversity and uniqueness of the clients I meet. I prize developing a warm and close working relationship with my clients. The rewards can be great, especially with kids that are experiencing big emotional, physical and situational changes that can often be so intense and so indescribable at the same time. I have demonstrated a knack for helping to supply words and meaning to adolescent and young adult experience and for helping to alleviate uncertainty, anxiety, tension and strife. I also identify and utilize a person's strengths as a primary means of positive change.
I have primarily worked with adolescents and their families, in virtually every setting that you can think of, since 1982. I worked with kids in Juvenile Detention for 13 years ultimately, then private practice in eastern and western Washington which has included adults and couples.
I love what I do. I pay close attention in a personable way. I listen for the whole story, noting strengths as well as symptoms. I appreciate the complexity of predicaments. I seek to understand causes, patterns and situational factors, and convey what I see in a way that brings results and appreciation.
