I have helped my clients with a wide range of concerns including life transitions, depression, anxiety, family conflicts, adoption, and relationship issues.
Therapy is a unique experience for each person. It helps you learn about yourself, your relationships and how you interact with the world. It can be a place to find healing and self-understanding. I believe that society and culture impact our thoughts, feelings, and relationships. As a counselor, my approach is integrative, but grounded in attachment theory. I offer individual, couples, and family counseling. For couples therapy, I utilize Emotionally Focussed Therapy, which is backed by over 20 years of research on attachment relationship patterns. Research shows that approximately 90% of couples show significant improvements.

I remember many years ago, while in graduate school, a professor stating that the client may not remember the therapist's words but will remember the connection or alliance that was forged. This statement speaks to the fact that fundamentally it is the working relationship which drives change. Therefore, it is extremely important that you find a therapist who strives to "get you."

I enjoy using my direct approach, humor, and a good relationship to help folks tackle issues that can feel otherwise like “too much.
It can be overwhelming to navigate life on your own. While it may be scary, going to therapy can help you feel supported as you journey through the difficulties that life can present. I appreciate those who are willing to overcome their fears and allow me the honor of being a part of your story, helping you to navigate the obstacles.

I believe that it is through relationships that we experience our deepest pain, as well as our greatest healing, and I desire to use the therapeutic relationship as a catalyst for change.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who helps individuals from all walks of life who are struggling to be the best versions of themselves. This could be due to fragile self-esteem, loss of faith, body image, relational conflict, or social/systemic issues. I have advanced skills in treating trauma-related disorders due to single (e.g. sexual assault) or complex trauma (e.g. childhood abuse, neglect), death, bereavement, or loss. I use attachment work and relational constructivist theories to help those who are yearning to be more connected with their hearts, bodies, and minds.

I want to honor that as we build our relationship.
Do you struggle with feeling out of control? Or, do you spend a lot of energy trying to make sure you and others stay in control? Maybe you even swing between these extremes, internally or with others. I would love to collaborate with you to explore how you can experience more safety and freedom individually and in relationships. Whether you are totally new to counseling, or have been in therapy for years, I want to work with you during this part of your story.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
