The Lucy Daniels Center is a 501c3 nonprofit that was founded in 1989 to provide mental health services to children and families in the Triangle. We believe that the earlier a child’s challenges are addressed, the better the chance to help that child develop emotionally, socially, and academically. Our mission is to help children live emotionally healthy lives through in-depth evaluation and treatment, family involvement, and education. I work with motivated individuals seeking relief from chronic pain as well as reduced stress and anxiety in their personal lives or at work. Chronic pain conditions that I treat include but are not limited to neck and back pain, headaches, pelvic pain, IBS, tinnitus, and fibromyalgia.

Everyone has a calling. I believe mine is supporting children, young adults and families. For younger children, I work collaboratively with parents to understand the sources contributing to the child’s difficulties, to help rebuild a feeling of closeness, warmth and effective parenting. For older adolescents and young adults, our work is often centered on preparing to launch as an independent adult. That means strengthening relationships with family and friends, sorting out the balance of work and life choices, making values-based career decisions, and figuring out how to live in a way that really aligns with personal values.

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor, National Certified Counselor, Certified Clinical Military Counselor, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I have been trained through UNC TEACCH to work with individuals on the Autism Spectrum. I am trained in EMDR, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Human Givens. I have been trained to work with individuals with ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, autism, etc. Sessions tend to run 45-53 minutes, once a week. I will provide coping skills, symptom management, and ways to work through the life issues bringing clients in for help.

Huguette Curah is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 30+ years of social work experience, 21 of those as a therapist. Huguette enjoys empowering people to learn themselves, accept their experience and healing, and make space for what comes next. She has worked with people experiencing grief, loss, depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and adjustment to significant life changes. Huguette completed her Master of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

It heals by bringing unconscious content to consciousness and by fostering deeper relationships with parts of ourselves we previously ignored, denied or even disdained.
