Using a neurodevopmental framework, I specialize in comprehensive assessment across a breadth of areas, including autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disorders; executive functioning/attention deficit disorders; specific learning disabilities, such as reading/dyslexia; giftedness; early kindergarten readiness; social-emotional functioning. Utilizing a strengths-based perspective, I give great effort to provide evidence-based recommendations and strategies that are practical and targeted. Every assessment is custom-designed based upon specific referral questions and a personalized learning plan is developed.

I am a clinical psychologist. I am available for individual, couples, and family therapy. My preference is to work with adolescents and older clients. I am culturally competent and have had great success working with clients regardless of background or lifestyle orientation. I am also comfortable addressing issues of spirituality, identity formation, and self-actualization.

Families come to me because their child or adolescent is struggling, and often times they don’t know where to begin to make things better. I work with children, teens, their parents, and young adults (up to age 25). I initially focus on learning about a person's challenges and strengths. Then, together we develop a plan for gaining mastery over difficulties, achieving goals, and ultimately reaching a child, teen, or early adult's potential. Often challenges feel overwhelming when first seeking help, but most families find initial sessions to clarify goals while also setting the stage for long-sought change.

I am a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I provide psychiatric medication management for patients 4-21 years of age. I understand that a person is more than the sum of medical conditions. Medication can help but is not a cure. I encourage patients to actively participate in their care by learning about their condition and utilizing other management strategies, such as therapy, meditation, and a healthy lifestyle. I work in partnership with patients and families to develop a treatment plan to successfully meet their goals. I am allied with the LGBTQ+ community.

I help the smart struggling student who learns best when taught in a kinesthetic/experiential way. I build self confidence and improve reading comprehension. I address visual processing, brain-body integration, memory and attention issues as well as language building. I am Dyslexia Certified through The University of Florida UFLI reading program.

With degrees from Duke University (PhD) and UNC-Chapel Hill (B.A.), I have 25 years of experience working with adults, college students, adolescents, and children. If you struggle with anxiety, depression, mood swings, obsessive-compulsive behavior, relationship problems, and/or ADD/ADHD/LD, I can help. I trained at Duke Child Guidance, Children's Psychiatric Institute, Dorothea Dix Child Psychiatry, and the NCSU Counseling Center, so I am experienced with developmental issues across the life span. I offer individual therapy (all ages), assessment/treatment of ADD/LD (all ages), and couples, marital and group therapy for adults.
