Accepting New Clients. As a counselor I operate from a Person-centered approach. This means I will work hard to create a warm, non-judgmental, and empathetic space for us to do our work. I am interested in the way you think and conceptualize things and we can use a variety of approaches based on your specific needs. I will provide warmth and respect in our sessions.

It is important for you to find a therapist you feel comfortable with. I seek to provide a space of hope, non-judgment, and authenticity. I support individuals navigating a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma, and relationships. My primary populations are emerging and young adults; I work with people ages 14+. I am passionate about human rights, social justice, reproductive rights, and I am an LGBTQI+ ally. Through holistic person-centered empowerment, the individuals I work with take steps to grow, heal, and create a life worth living.

During any stage of life we are faced with challenges of many kinds. And these trials can keep anyone in the dark, not realizing that hope can be found. I am a therapist that believes in change, that each individual has the ability to self-heal, but sometimes needs some support to do so. Navigating our world and lives can be hard, and you don’t have to go through it alone. My role as your therapist (or your child's) is to act as a supportive agent, where we work collaboratively to achieve the goals you set for yourself. You would be encouraged to express your own experience through activities, verbalizations, or a combination that feels best to you in a safe space. I do my best to make sure everyone who comes into my office feels accepted as themselves, with no judgement whatsoever.

Accepting new clients! Welcome, and congratulations on taking the first step to attending counseling! I strive to hold a safe and authentic space for my clients where they can feel supported. My passion is working with college students, young adults, and adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, major life changes, relationship concerns, and more. I discovered this passion during my time working with college students at Appalachian State Counseling and Psychological Services. Making changes can be scary, but together we can break down these barriers so you can live your ideal life.

I love working with people who are taking steps to better understand themselves and how they relate to the world around them. I work with children, teens, adults and families who are looking to realize their full potential and confront challenges in doing so. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, family conflict, life transitions, academic struggles, work-life balance and relationships. I love working with children and parents to support empathy building in family relationships.

My favorite therapy sessions are done in nature in the Boone, NC and surrounding areas - we can walk, hike, kayak, or even ski/board during your session! I believe the best therapy happens while moving your body in nature. I specialize in relationships, body-centered therapy, trauma-healing, LGBTQIA+, and goal-achievement.

We are a group practice, we take many different insurances, and file your claims for you. Our therapists will work with you to help find understanding, a solution or a change for you or your situation. Counseling/Therapy is based on you and your situation alone. Everyone is different and everyone's situation is different, so we will create an individual plan for you and your specific concerns. There is no use of a template or generalized formula. The therapeutic formula we decide on will come from you and your concerns. The counseling experience will be unique to you and your situation.

I am a North Carolina Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (license #S3106) with more than 30 years of training and experience working with adults and adolescents in the fields of mental health, employee assistance, vocational and psychosocial rehabilitation, and workplace training and consultation. I have extensive experience working with medical, psychological/emotional, substance abuse/chemical dependency, relationship, and career issues. I have been in private practice for 20 years. I am also a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor.

I truly enjoy working with a range of clients. I am not a couples therapist but I enjoy working on the individual level to create healthy relationships, learning communication tools, healing attachment wounds and developing secure attachments.

My name is Julia Smith. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and full time a tele-health therapist who is dedicated to helping individuals enhance their emotional well-being. My areas of clinical expertise include, trauma, anxiety, and depression. I have a wealth of experience treating emotional and behavioral issues affecting teens, parents, and young adults. I possess specialized training in evidenced based practices including: Brainspotting Phase I & II (pursuing certification), Trauma Focused-CBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
