Hello! I am a psychologist licensed in North Carolina. Please note that I provide only psychological testing services to children, adolescents, and adults for a wide variety of challenges, and do NOT provide psychotherapy.

Please note that I only offer psychological testing, not counseling services. Are you or your child struggling to meet life's demands? Are you unsure about what kind of support you need? Do you struggle to access the support you need without a formal diagnosis? If so, you may benefit from a psychological evaluation. An evaluation can clarify an individual's strengths, challenges, and general tendencies, which can in turn result in recommendations for the specific types of clinical and/or educational services needed, as well as a host of helpful strategies. It may also result in one or more diagnoses that increase access to services.

I am a board certified clinical neuropsychologist practicing in a private practice setting. My practice is primarily neuropsychological testing of patients presenting with memory disorders, dementia, traumatic brain injury, stroke, and mood disorders. I also complete psychological evaluations for ADHD, learning disorders, and behavioral disorders.

She has a Doctorate Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, and Board Certification in Behavior Analysis - Doctoral Level. She is committed to providing thorough clinical evaluations based in science and within a behavioral context. Her primary training involved working with adults, adolescents, and children facing severe mental health and behavioral challenges. My goal as a psychologist is to increase self-awareness and create positive change in a nonjudgmental environment. Psychotherapy can relieve emotional distress, improve one's quality of life, help process painful events and increase self-awareness. Unfortunately many people are conflicted about the decision to get help and may see psychotherapy as a sign of weakness. It has been my experience that people who are unhappy for whatever reason and choose to go to psychotherapy are being assertive, healthy, and courageous in the handling of their problems.

Dr. Jackson-Westbrook is currently only accepting new testing clients. Dr. Melissa Jackson-Westbrook is a licensed clinical psychologist in North Carolina. She was born in Alaska and grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with a concentration in forensic psychology. She completed her internship at the Federal Correction Complex in Butner, North Carolina.

I have been in full-time private practice as a clinical and counseling psychologist for 31 years. I completed a hospital internship and have spent my career seeing not only patients with emotional disorders, but also patients with medical diagnoses such as chronic pain, cancer, multiple sclerosis, heart disease, and morbid obesity. I have considerable experience with psychological testing and use tests to help patients' physicians and psychiatrists find the optimal psychotropic medications for their symptoms. I have been trained in traditional psychodynamic therapy but also employ a variety of treatment modalities including cognitive and behavioral therapies and family therapy.

Working with adults and adolescents in individual, couples, and group counseling, Tamara considers herself a generalist in the field of psychology. Her areas of expertise include developmental concerns, anxiety and stress management, career and life planning, cultural identities, dissertation/thesis coaching, ADHD and LD coaching and testing, and health psychology (e.g. eating and weight concerns, mind-body awareness, and dealing with chronic illness). She also provides organizational consultation and is a trained facilitator in outdoor education. Recent presentations have included: 1) sexual intimacy, 2) wellness coaching, 3) exploring gender norms, and 4) the treatment of disordered eating & other psychosomatic illnesses.

Parenting can be difficult. Children have their own personalities, ways of thinking, big feelings and struggle with healthy coping strategies. Children and adolescents often do not know how to communicate their thoughts and feelings and often act out in frustration. Youth are experiencing anxiety, self-doubt, low self confidence, social anxiety, stress, depression, and struggle with focusing. These can become negative self talk and can impact their families. Areas of special interest for me include working with youth and their families to help them flourish. I provide therapy and psychological evaluations.
