I support women's issues such as Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD).
Looking for something different? I uniquely combine evidence-based therapy with meditation, breathwork, yoga, and other techniques, like art therapy. I’ve been a licensed therapist since 2007. I create a space where you can be heard and nurtured but also pushed to grow. We'll work together to set realistic therapeutic goals so you can thrive. I love to support teens, college students, & adults, as well as LGBTQIA+, POC, single parents, and other marginalized populations. I offer group for younger kids. Together, we’ll reduce stress, anxiety, and low mood by learning coping skills to increase overall wellness and personal awareness.

I specialize in helping adolescents, adults, and couples that struggle with issues such as depression, anxiety, life changes, trauma, women's issues, gender/sexual identity and neurodivergence.
My name is Savannah Corey (she/her) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I utilize a person-centered approach to meet clients where they are, and believe we are the expert in our own lives. Therapy should be a place where you feel really safe to talk about anything, and I believe that the relationship between a therapist and client is a partnership where all people involved strive to reach the same goals. As a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, I help clients connect thoughts, feelings, or behaviors to "stuck points" in thoughts processes so that negative thoughts can be reframed.

Are you struggling with adjusting to change? Are past traumas keeping you stuck? There are so many changes universally right now and they can be overwhelming. Even adapting back to what we are referring to as "normalcy" is different and new. Or, do you have some issues with feeling confident in one or more areas of your life? I get it. Sometimes clients come to me for support and guidance with their relationships, yet their work situation is mostly satisfying. And still others would like to feel more comfortable in their family role, professional role, or even in their roles in general. They would like to be able to move forward.

Are you living a purpose filled life? A life that you enjoy waking up to and beginning your day with a strategic plan to live on purpose. At one point you felt optimistic about life then out of nowhere you were triggered by a memory from the past which led to your downward spiral of emotions. Now you are questioning your life's purpose and reason for existence. Or perhaps confused as to why you have experienced certain encounters leading you to feelings of stress, distant behavior, agitation, or perhaps hopeless.

Do you struggle to get your needs met in your relationships? Perhaps you try repeatedly and fail to achieve harmony? I have a special interest in working with individuals experiencing unhappiness in their important relationships. When my clients first come in, they may feel they are doing the heavy lifting and hope that things will change. Their relationship dissatisfaction gets in the way of the life they want in so many ways. They aren’t the person they strive to be according to their values. They feel like they are failing as a partner and in life. Greater self-confidence and fulfillment are attainable.

Parenting children of any age is challenging in different ways, in the case of divorce, coparenting adds such complexity to your child's life and to the coparents. When you decide to have a child, we need resources, education, and support on what to expect and how to parent through stages of development. In divorced families, you switch from parenting together to coparenting and there is often high conflict between coparents as they attempt to navigate these unfamiliar life changes. Providing support and learning researched parenting and coparenting strategies can help give guidance to reduce conflicts and stress.

Women's Issues Therapists

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
