I am a LCSW practicing in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of NC since 2010. Therapy is an opportunity for learning and growth, and I have witnessed amazing outcomes for individuals who worked hard in treatment to elicit positive personal change. I have extensive experience as a Crisis Clinician in Emergency Departments, an outpatient therapy provider, a Mobile Crisis Clinician, a Health Coach, and an Employee Assistance Program therapist. I am equipped to provide clinical supervision for associate professionals seeking licensure through the NC Social Work Certification and Licensure Board.

For 30 years I have provided counseling services to couples, families, and individuals. I assist individual adults who are dealing with depression, relationship issues, childhood or adult trauma, or aging concerns. I work with clients to understand and resolve the effects of stress on the mind and body. With couples we focus on resolving underlying issues that impede communication as well as crises such as dealing with sexual or emotional infidelity and most other relationship problems. I work extensively with families dealing with addiction, parenting concerns, and with intergenerational family conflicts.

** Christian Counseling ** My professional experience has been working with adolescents, college students, adults, working on various issues, and wanting someone to help them in the journey. No one lives life without going through something that makes them question whether they can work through it on their own. This is the very place God has for us to come to him and his strength. I have personally experienced a few of these, and have been given a calling for helping others in theirs. My practice aims to shine light on the purpose we have on this earth, and walking with you to uncover the roots of why you struggle.

Trauma is often at the root of anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. It can dysregulate our nervous systems and keep us stuck in 'survival mode.' The same coping strategies that once protected us are now disrupting our relationships and everyday lives. The good news is that our minds and bodies want to heal. We just need to learn how to integrate ourselves and our experiences into a new, more mindful, and compassionate way so that the past is not always in the driver's seat. It is said “what you resist, persists”. I believe the practice of coming to know ourselves fully can be very powerful.

I am a graduate of Appalachian State University with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, and have been practicing for the past thirteen years. I specialize in work with individuals, couples, families and teens, and have a focus in systems theory and narrative therapy. I prefer to work in collaboration with my clients to use the expertise that they have in their own lives to help find strategies that can help them build the life that they want.
