I work with adults who want to tackle the issues of anxiety, depression, relationships, self-esteem, transitions, and parenting. I find that a sense of humor helps in the therapeutic process and firmly believe that the client is the expert in their own life. My job, as I see it, is to listen to your story with an objective perspective, help you to examine and question existing behaviors and thought patterns, and assist you in developing new strategies to move your life in the direction you desire.
My style of therapy is based on my belief of the inherent worth of every human being and their ability to create change that increases happiness, fulfillment, and resilience in their lives. I incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy with positive psychology.
Positive psychology entails using what a client is already doing right and building on that using the client's strengths. While it's important to explore the past to identify patterns and triggers, my primary focus is helping clients with the present and future.
