Taking the first step to start this journey is something that you should be proud of and know that it takes a lot of courage! I have made the comparison to clients that "finding a good therapist is like finding a comfortable pair of jeans or shoes sometimes you need to try on a few before you find the right fit for you". As a therapist, I am interested in making things comfortable for folks that they can feel safe in the space. I have been in the field for almost 29 years now and still very much adore being a social worker. It is an honor and privilege to witness people grow!
Historically I have worked with folks in the modalities of DBT, ACT, mindfulness, IFS, CBT and Solution Focused types of therapies. In the past few years, I have discovered that partnering therapy with also making activity changes can be the most beneficial way to support folks with feeling better overall.
My style of therapy has been called "comfortable and peaceful" by many clients throughout the years. My style tends to be gently direct and transparent which seems to be supportive for clients to feel confident and safe in therapy.
