My name is Alexander Mitchell and I started Blacks Run Counseling in 2024 to meet people seeking mental health support at whatever level of need they have. I provide outpatient therapy to individuals using a combination of cognitive-behavioral, person-centered and existential theories. I've worked with clients from a variety of backgrounds with different levels of need over the years and feel comfortable supporting most people as they address their mental health concerns. I am firmly committed to supporting my clients creating change that is effective, satisfying and sustainable in their daily lives.
I bring an integrated appreciation for cognitive-behavioral, person-centered and existential modalities to my work. Taking what works for me as a therapist and combining it with my own unique traits has prepared me to support clients as they take what works from therapy and apply it to their own lives.
Much of the time I find our symptoms are often our best effort to care for ourselves and avoid future suffering or discomfort. Recognizing they aren't working is often an important step to reducing the disruption symptoms bring to daily life.
