We are systems therapist. What that means is: we like to approach problems that people have within the context of social, political and cultural storylines that influence the way we view ourselves and our own personal stories. We use this same approach in family therapy to seek ways to change the way the family system works rather than trying to "fix" a specific family member.

Traumatic and stressful experiences can range from childhood traumas to a single event like a car accident, the loss of a loved one, or a diagnosis of a chronic disease. Healing the emotional pain of past trauma begins with acknowledgement in a safe space. It is never easy but sharing your experiences, thoughts, and feelings can lead to relief, new perspectives on yourself, your relationships, your goals, and your zest for life. Our goal is to create that safe space for you to understand, process, and heal past trauma and stress so that you can truly live life in the present with self understanding, self acceptance and self care.

Clients often come to see me when they feel lost, stuck, or overwhelmed. I strive to help clients identify and explore the foundation of a challenge or issue so that they can effectively (and often quickly) achieve deep and lasting change. My work is rooted in my belief that our bodies and minds are designed to heal, and we can get stuck when those innate processes are interrupted or ignored. I use an integrative approach to help strengthen the client's inherent wisdom and ability to heal, with an emphasis on self-awareness, skill-building, and the mind-body connection.

My clients are individuals and relationships that are curious about what a different and more fulfilling future might look like. I believe that every person's identity and experience is complex and worth understanding deeply. I also believe that everyone has a unique and powerful set of skills and strengths (even if they don't know it). I work with people who want to start or continue their journey in healing from trauma, clients who may be struggling to navigate what it means to be neurodivergent and clients who want to learn more about their own identity throughout this process. Together, we can work on reducing shame, blame and guilt surrounding traumas, decrease hypervigilance and avoidance to work toward valued living.

Being seen and valued for who we truly are, particularly in a space free of judgment, bias, and pretense, is an incredible feeling. When we feel safe to be ourselves, peace and healing naturally follow. From there, we can blossom, grow, and thrive! It often takes that feeling of safety and security for the truest parts of ourselves to be free to emerge. However, the ones that I find I have the most successful relationships with are young adults in their 20s-30s dealing with transitions into emerging adulthood. I have a long history of working with those who have experienced; domestic violence, sexual abuse, trauma, relationship difficulties, sexual concerns or addictions, PTSD, depression, anxiety, personality disorders and more. As a person who faced trauma, I strive to help those who are struggling so that everyone can find enjoyment in life. Trauma is my specialty and I am trained in EMDR, CBT, DBT, and TF-CBT to just name a few. I love working with teenagers but also enjoy working with adults. Some experiences were likely nurturing and beautiful and others were likely quite painful and challenging. Your accumulated experiences have shaped you and helped you develop mechanisms for coping, some of which no longer serve you.
