Therapy and case management is a collaborative process between the therapist and the client. As a counselor, I will be using an integrative approach incorporating many techniques from different theoretical approaches and using Narrative therapy, behavioral therapy, A.C.T, and person-centered therapy. Each client will be treated differently, ensuring that his or her goals are incorporated into the treatment process. Therapy will include some of the following: self-awareness techniques, relaxation techniques, behavioral modification, role-playing, journaling, psycho-education, and identifying and incorporating new coping skills.

Dr. Whitney Mascaro (she/her) is a compassionate and dedicated psychologist with a strong commitment to serving clients from diverse backgrounds. With expertise in a variety of therapeutic approaches, she primarily works from emotion-focused and attachment-based orientations. Depending on each person’s unique needs, she incorporates CBT, ACT, DBT, and IFS interventions. Dr. Mascaro specializes in working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, self-harm, chronic suicidality, trauma, survivors of violence, complex PTSD, relationship concerns, and sexual identity/LGBTQIA+ concerns.

Licensed in North Carolina and Virginia, and located in the Roanoke, Virginia, area, I provide Parental Capacity Evaluations, Parent Coaching, Parent Coordination and Consultation, civil and criminal assessments in court cases such as psychological/psychosexual evaluations, mental status, insanity, competency, and trauma therapy/assessment. I specialize in forensic and clinical assessments, domestic violence cases, child physical/sexual abuse, trauma, and law enforcement/corrections pre-employment assessments. My therapy focuses on trauma, dissociative disorders, and domestic violence.

I am a Clinical Psychologist in the Christiansburg area. I use a variety of therapies to help each individual with their specific needs. My approach to therapy is warm, empathic, and caring.
