Dr. Thompson was granted clinical membership by the The American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. She has practiced for over 35 years and specializes in the following areas: individual adult psychotherapy, anxiety, depression, adult children of alcoholics and issues related to grief and loss. Dr. Thompson has a specialization in career counseling, and is a qualified administrator of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, a personality assessment tool. Jungian psychology has been an area of extensive and consistent study for over 45 years.
Dr. Thompson believes that unless we understand what has influenced our life choices we are not free to make new ones. The focus of psychotherapy is to reflect upon these choices and to grant ourselves permission to change, should they no longer reflect who we want to become.
It is Dr. Thompson's belief that a person often lives with unresolved issues of grief and loss throughout the life cycle. She maintains that the goal of therapy is to explore how these issues have sustained their impact, so that the ability to access joy may be both reclaimed and maximized.
