People who come to me for therapy find a pragmatic clinician who responds actively and efficiently to urgent problems and symptoms, including anxiety, depression, and bereavement. I quickly identify and address how present day stressors are affecting my patients' relationships at work and at home. My admiration for people’s strength and resilience guides my work. I believe a good therapist should be a loyal ally, an advocate for a person’s best self, and a compassionate believer in human dignity and capacity for change. My style is warm. My personality is direct.
I specialize in working with adolescents and adults with a range of mental health diagnoses, life stressors and relationship difficulties. I also conduct couples therapy with couples wrestling with a range of challenges, including high conflict communication patterns.
My training and education have been broad. Modalities and formal training include psychoanalytic psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, family systems, divorce mediation, collaborative divorce, parenting coordination, and sexual assault counseling. I hold a Master of Social Work from New York University and a PhD from Duke University in History.
