Abbe Horsburgh focuses primarily on helping patients with anxiety, depression, self harm, loss, and problems with relationships (of all kinds). She works mostly with individuals, but also with families, where conflicts, misunderstandings, and hurtful acts, whether past or present, often create distance and painful cutoffs. She is empathetic and patient, but also, where necessary, goal-oriented and pro-active.
Abbe is trained in CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and finds it very effective for anxiety and interpersonal problems. For depression, she'll often use more insight-oriented therapies. Loss involves allowing patients to grieve. For family issues, Abbe turns to the treatment methods of the Ackerman Institute, where she did her post-graduate training.
