Coming from a diverse and experienced background, my qualifications and training in various disciplines have helped me to expand on an innate ability to cater to a client’s individual needs and potential. I do not believe “one size fits all” which means that each client is given services unique to them and the intricacies of their life, their experiences. This approach is coupled with an individual professional style and conscientious quality of service. I run a “gold standard” practice with a personal belief of “people before profits”. Quite simply, I care about people and help people to care about themselves.

Empowering children, adults and families to overcome obstacles that hinder them from living their best life motivates me. Helping others understand the possibility of change, benefits of personal growth and becoming their best self is evidenced throughout my nonjudgmental, strengths based approach to counseling. Since therapy is an individual process, I utilize a combination of evidenced based treatment modalities and approaches to meet individuals unique needs.

I am trained in yoga and other meditation techniques, and often integrate that background into the therapeutic process. Good day to you! My educational background is in Clinical Psychology and Counseling Psychology with a Post Masters in Applied Behavior Analysis. I began my career in providing behavioral and mental healthcare services in 2004. Since that time, I have devoted myself to helping youth, adolescents, and adults address neurodiverse needs. In June of 2016, I founded Beautiful Minds to meet the mental and behavioral health needs of youth, families, and adults living in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Rittenhouse Psychiatric Associates is a network of over 20 Psychiatric providers offering Virtual and In-office evaluations, medication mgnt. and therapy. I work to create a collaborative and safe, yet challenging therapeutic environment with clients. Together we work to uncover and explore the ways one’s experiences and current life circumstances can shape the very lens through which we view the world and ourselves. Developing awareness of one’s underlying beliefs and patterns empowers us to regain a sense of control and strength over the very problematic choices and behaviors that interfere with a deserved quality of life.

Personal Impact Statement: The importance of advocating for oneself, knowing one has a voice & to using that voice. Life has recently shown me that curveballs are bound to happen with no warning whatsoever. COVID-19 was a clear example of that. This past years have shown me just how quickly life can be derailed and how pivotal it is for mental health professionals like myself to exist. Dr. Shirin Zarqa-Lederman is a counseling psychologist specializing in trauma services and community psychology, holding a PhD in the field. She is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and licensed clinical drug and alcohol counselor (LCADC) based in New Jersey, working with clients globally. Prior to establishing her private practice, Dr. Shirin was a program coordinator for a NJ adolescent substance abuse program, where she developed treatment curriculum for group and family therapy. Later, she worked as a community liaison for this program and three others in New York, coordinating psychiatric and substance abuse care.
