If you have found yourself in a pattern of unhealthy relationships or behaviors and have struggled with behavior change, my approach to treatment will likely be a good fit. Finding the right "fit" with a therapist can be a challenging process and is often one of the most important ingredients for successful outcomes. I have experience in working with anxiety disorders, personality disorders, depression/bipolar disorder, OCD, and adjustment disorders. I conduct formal psychological evaluations for diagnostic clarification/treatment planning, as part of pre-surgical clearance, and domestic and international pre-adoption evaluations.
I utilize interpersonal/psychodynamic treatment methods which address the underlying issues of a wide array of presenting problems from mood disorders to personality disorders. I also use cognitive behavioral therapy to address the more acute symptoms prior to exploring underlying causes. I use The Rorschach Inkblot Test when indicated for testing.
While people often enter therapy during a time of distress, I view the process of psychotherapy as one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself. Through successful treatment you will not only achieve symptom reduction, but you will gain a deeper understanding of the self and what led to clinical distress.
