Dr. Shirin Zarqa-Lederman is a counseling psychologist specializing in trauma services and community psychology, holding a PhD in the field. She is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and licensed clinical drug and alcohol counselor (LCADC) based in New Jersey, working with clients globally. Prior to establishing her private practice, Dr. Shirin was a program coordinator for a NJ adolescent substance abuse program, where she developed treatment curriculum for group and family therapy. Later, she worked as a community liaison for this program and three others in New York, coordinating psychiatric and substance abuse care.

Adrienne’s interest in counseling began as a volunteer on The Trevor Project’s suicide prevention and crisis intervention lifeline. Her early career focused on working with LGBTQIA+ youth at The Ali Forney Center before transitioning to an outpatient hospital clinic for adolescents and adults with HIV/AIDS.

My psychology treatment plan is specialized to your individual goals and needs, varying in terms of time (short term and long term), modality (individual, couple, and family), and focus (cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, multicultural, mindfulness, and family/couples system). I utilize treatment interventions that are scientifically researched and found to be effective. In your first visit, we will set goals for treatment to ensure that you are not in therapy longer than is needed.
