I currently serve clients from ages 10-100, with my primary focus being adolescents and adults. I am a mental health counselor as well as a licensed clinical addiction specialist, meaning I love working with both mental health disorders and addictions. When working with mental health, I serve those struggling with anxiety/depression, trauma/sexual abuse, bipolar I or II disorder, dissociative-identity disorder, grief, self-esteem concerns, identity matters, religious or spiritual factors, stress management, and those on the autism spectrum. My goals for my clients are to be able to increase their sense of self-worth and autonomy.

She has over 25 years experience in the field of health/mental health and addiction.

I am committed to helping individuals with complex traumas, substance misuse, and situations that negatively impact our lives. My work focuses on using psychodynamic, humanistic, and behavioral approaches to assist my clients with a variety of diagnoses. I believe in taking a collaborative approach to assist my clients in reaching their goals. I am passionate about working with my client while remaining ethical. As a bilingual Mexican with a military background, I genuinely believe that we all come from different roots and are united by trying to achieve a life of fulfillment through the various challenges we face.

Through great pain comes better awareness and understanding about ourselves and the world around us. My journey as a counselor began during my experience with war deployments, which inspired my search to find ways to help others who are hurting. After completing my Master's degrees in Couples and Family Counseling, I have worked extensively with the court system, with families in need, and with individuals of all ages. My other passion in life is speaking and learning more Spanish. I offer therapy sessions to adults, children, families, and couples. I am a certified hypnotherapist.

I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) therapist with extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and families. I am also an assistant professor of Marriage and Family Therapy and a clinical supervisor. I have been able to help many couples and families acquire the necessary skills needed to cope with very real relational problems (e.g., communication issues, infidelity, and power dynamics). I also help individuals from multiple cultural and ethnic backgrounds struggling with anxiety, depression, acculturation, and discrimination/oppression issues. Welcome, looking for someone that is warm, direct and knowledgeable. You found it! I obtained my MSW in 2013, from Rhode Island College. Following my graduation, I worked at a Psychiatric Residential Facility where I learned the benefits of ACT, CBT, TF-CBT and DBT modalities. In 2015, I moved to Mecklenburg County Public Health, where I worked alongside CMPD providing therapeutic support to families that experienced acute and prolonged trauma exposure. During my tenure in Public Health Department, I honed my skills in somatic approach, such as EMDR and Brainspotting, to help the individual improve their mental health.
