As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, a trauma survivor, and someone with a chronic pain disorder; I approach the work that I do from a place of empathy and personal understanding. I have an intense passion for understanding personal identity and the way race, culture, class, and sexuality come together to form what we believe about ourselves and what we feel we can accomplish in our lives. Anxiety and trauma can live in our bodies - together we will create a relationship that fosters dynamic and lasting growth, tapping into undiscovered reserves of resiliency that will help navigate the past and prepare for a more hopeful future.

As a queer and nonbinary person who has worked in the public education field for over 10 years, there was always one thing I wanted to be: someone I needed when I was younger. Representation matters, and for the LGBTQIA+ community being visible and understood also matters. That’s where my passion for the mental health field grew into becoming a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor. I want to be a support for anyone who has felt left out of these spaces. I don’t believe there is only one way to approach therapy. I am eclectic and holistic in my approaches and will work with you to find the best possible fit for your journey!

Psychotherapy can help you make sense of complicated feelings, gain insight into relational patterns, and begin to move forward in areas of your life where you feel stuck. My focus is to help you untangle struggles, set meaningful goals, revise problematic narratives about yourself, and re-orient you toward your values. My integrative approach is informed by psychodynamic, feminist, multicultural, relational, and behaviorist theories. Above all, I value the therapeutic relationship and your personal growth. I offer therapy, assessment, and gender affirming evaluation services in person and remotely.

Sometimes, core parts of who we are fall outside of what is considered normal or acceptable. It can feel impossible to understand yourself. You might feel invisible or wonder if you’re really the problem. You know that hiding these parts of yourself doesn’t feel right and isn’t sustainable. At the same time, you question whether it’s worth all the pain that might come from fully exploring and expressing yourself without hiding your identity, isolating from others, or masking. You may already have a strong sense of your identity and know what would help but feel that it's not accessible or possible.

I am a licensed therapist practicing in Maryland, DC, and South Carolina. I approach my practice through a lens of anti-oppression, feminist, and queer theory. Recognizing the healing potential of the therapeutic relationship, I emphasize client-centered therapy that values and honors all aspects of my clients' identities. I continuously strive to address my power and privilege, serving as an ally to BIPOC, disabled individuals, sex workers, those living in poverty, fat/larger bodied individuals, immigrants, houseless individuals, the aging population, individuals under the age of 18, and those who are or have been incarcerated.
