Hi, I'm Kristen! It is my passion to help you maximize your well-being. I provide specialized support for individuals seeking help with life challenges. I work with a diverse client base, ranging from teens to adults with different cultural backgrounds and sexual orientations.

I believe in a person centered and narrative approach, as you are the expert of your own life. You have your own story to tell. Talking to a stranger about issues you’re facing can be extremely difficult and challenging but it shows enormous amounts of strength and bravery. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can express yourself, discuss challenges that you are facing, explore new ideas and new chapters, and to help promote growth and wellness. I want my clients to feel heard and understood.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Illinois. I obtained a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands. I have worked as a clinician in community mental health for the last four years, where I provided mental health services to adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families. I have also worked in a variety of social service settings, providing services to children and families for over 15 years.

I believe that therapy is the most successful when there is a trusting relationship between the therapist and the patient. In order to establish a connection, I strive to meet my patients where they are through providing an open and safe space which allows them to freely express themselves without judgment. We all have a story to tell and every story is different. Often times, between the lines of the story lies the clarity that allows for healing and forward movement. My goal is to read between the lines and help patients fill in the blanks.

Life is full of challenges. And sometimes we all need support. I have 2 passions; Autism and Women's Issues. I recognized many years ago that services for people with high functioning autism are lacking in our nation. They tend to fall in the cracks because people believe they don't need support. People with high functioning autism do need support, but that support needs to be uniquely designed for them. That's where I come in. My second passion, Women's Issues, has been some of my most meaningful work. Women face unique challenges in our culture, and it helps to have a therapist that understands these issues.

Life can be hard, unfair, and hurtful at times. But at the end of any storm, there is always a rainbow. As a therapist, my job is to sit with you in the storm. One of the essential pieces to making a change is the relationship between counselor and client. In my practice, I work hard to create a safe and trusting environment where all clients feel comfortable in sharing a piece of their life experiences with me. She received a master’s degree in Social Work with a specialization in community mental health from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 2004.
