Having personally benefited from participation in psychoanalysis, I can say as a patient and a clinician that psychotherapy is transformational. My approach to psychotherapy is based upon the theoretical framework of Carl Jung. Jung’s model emphasizes the critical role self-awareness plays in bringing about change. Through reflection and dialogue in therapy, material that was unconscious is made conscious which in turn, facilitates the working through of issues and the healing of old wounds.
