I am skilled in working with individuals who experience adjustment issues, trauma histories, challenges with mood regulation, relationship challenges, stress, gender dysphoria, and other many other life challenges including addiction. I especially enjoy working with those individuals who live alternative lifestyles and who have alternative relationships. I specialize in gender identity. I am comfortable working with individuals under the GLBTQ+ umbrella. While working on my Master's Degree (2007-2010), I had a concentrated focus on gender dysphoria and transgender issues. I have been working with individuals who are dually diagnosed (serious mental illness and addiction or developmental disabilities and serious mental illness since 1991.)

Why do we sometimes dwell on the worst times of our lives or spend our time and energy reliving things we wish we could change? The umbrella term 'traumatic stress' encompasses both PTSD and it's symptoms when full criteria is not met. I'm a seasoned therapist, certified in EMDR, with a strong belief in your innate ability to heal. Does negative self-talk impair your quality of life? Greetings! My name is Janece and I am here to provide individuals and families with a safe and supportive place to work on sensitive concerns. I have my Doctorate of counseling psychology (PsyD), am a licensed professional counselor - supervisor (LPC), registered play therapist - supervisor (RPT-S), a nationally certified counselor (NBCC), certified dependency counselor - I (CDC-I), and a master addictions counselor (MAC).

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I specializing in the areas of trauma (sexual abuse, physical abuse, maltreatment, PTSD), anxiety, depression, self-esteem & identity, and couples and family work. When working with couples I utilize the research and theories of the Gottman Method developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman to facilitate reconnection and strengthen communication.
